A Word in your Shell-like

The end exhibition draws closer, this week’s list of things-to-do included soldering wires to mini-speakers (with help from my partner).OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I was surprised how easy a scallop shell is to drill, but gladdened how neatly the little speaker sits within the cup of a scallop. The idea is to play the recorded Fish Tales on this system, so within the exhibition the stories unfold at whisper level, only heard by holding a shell to your ear.

The final edit is being done by one of the museum’s gifted volunteers so there will be surprises for me too when the exhibition opens.
